After Noah built the ark, he took his family and all of the animals inside of it. Then God sent 40 days of rain and floods. The ark carried Noah, his family, and the animals safely on top of the flood waters. The ark floated on the sea, with no sight of land, for that whole time. It’s a good thing that Noah obeyed God and brought enough food for his family and the animals!

“And the flood was forty days upon the earth, and the waters increased, and lifted up the ark on high from earth. For they overflowed exceedingly: and filled all on the face of the earth: and the ark was carried upon the waters.”  Genesis 7:17-18
