A bishop is a successor of the Apostles, and are very holy men who do God’s work on Earth. Bishops usually wear red to show their annointing with the Holy Spirit.

The Apostles were the first bishops. Peter was even a bishop! They ordained new bishops to follow them, and through Christ’s power in His Church, the line of bishops has never been broken. The bishop in your diocese can trace himself all the way back to an Apostle!
