CatechismClass.com is an independent publishing company specializing in online, interactive catechesis. Focused on authentic Catholic teachings, our programs include scriptural and catechetical references to enhance and support proper faith formation. Each of our lessons follows a seven-step format with a final quiz to assess your progress and knowledge of the Faith at the end of the lesson.
Our programs can be used effectively in a variety of ways:
- For individual study
- As a complete homeschool religion curriculum
- In group catechism class
- As a online textbook
- To supplement another study program
Our lessons follow a 7-step format. Each lesson will guide you through:
- Introduction (Saint for the Day, Description of the Lesson Topic)
- Opening Prayer (For adults a decade of the Rosary; for children it is another prayer)
- Lectionary (Link to Daily Readings and mention of Scripture that concern the lesson topic)
- Catechism References (as they relate to the lesson's topic)
- Lesson (Explains and expands upon the Lectionary and Catechism in light of Catholic teaching, beliefs, etc.)
- Activity (Designed to reinforce the lesson)
- Closing Prayer (For adults the Divine Office; For children it is a decade of the Rosary)
Each lesson also ends in a quiz. Quizzes form a way for priests, parish religious education directors, parents, etc. to ensure that students are completing the material successfully.
CatechismClass.com students have used the lessons from our site in three main ways:
Several parishes around the country have decided to use our program as the main text for their CCD/religious education programs. Our program allows parish administrators and teachers to monitor the progress of students and check their scores electronically.Our teacher's material is available to instructors for classroom usage and each student is given a unique account to read their material online and take the quizzes. This also allows for strong parental involvement.
Some parishes also make our programs available for students/families to use as supplemental information and/or for use by disabled children who are unable to attend weekly meetings at the parish. Thus far, the parishes that have participated have been very pleased with the resources available.
By far our main customer base is parents, who purchase the lessons for their children as they seek to homeschool them. Many of these parents already homeschool their children and they seek Catholic material in line with their values. Additionally, with many families living hectic schedules, our program is used by families who are unable to drive their children to weekly meetings at the Church. Additionally, our programs are more authentically Catholic than many programs used in parishes around the country.
