PREPARING FOR CONFESSION

When you go to visit your grandparents, do you run into their house, jump on the couch, grab the remote control and turn on your favorite cartoon?  No!  You would never be disrespectful of your grandparents or anyone else like that.

We should treat God respectfully too.  When we go into the Church we are entering His house.  It is there in the Church that Jesus is found in the Tabernacle.  Every Catholic Church has a special place called a Tabernacle where the Holy Eucharist is kept.  The Holy Eucharist is Jesus’ Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, and the Tabernacle is the sacred place where He is placed.

When we enter God’s house we must first remember to be on our best behavior.  The first thing you should do is bless yourself with holy water. When you reach your seat, genuflect toward the Tabernacle, kneel down, and make a big beautiful Sign of the Cross.  Pray to God that He will help you make a good confession.  Tell Him that you are sorry for hurting Him through your sinful actions.  You want His help in drawing you back to Him.  Now, after you pray for His help, think about all the sins you have committed.
